Dear AmCham members and friends,
this time has for the first time the honor to write the Editorial for this year´s last Brief come down to me. Please, do not take my returning back to the times of last year amiss, as there has been everything altered since July 2009, when our new AmCham Executive Director, Mrs. Ajša Vodnik, M.Sc., has taken up her office. The wind has turned for the better, I have got new duties and started to enjoy much more working with and for You. I believe, that You, yourselves have also noticed the increased importance of the role of AmCham Slovenia in the business environment that still improving. To which all of You, employed in successful Slovene and foreign companies, are contributing the most. Through Your work at AmCham Committees, we are becoming serious interlocutors and supporters of a business friendly environment, attracted also to the foreign investors.
I wish to express our thanks sincerely to all the members of Tax, Labor, Public Procurement Committee, Working Group for Environment, Working Group for Social Responsibility and the Committee for Membership for their successful and professional work at accomplishing our mutual mission. Cordial thanks go also to all the sponsors of Business Breakfasts, Business Cocktails, Business Luncheons, social sports events and generally to all of You who contributed to the exquisitely attended events. The Business Breakfast has become a trade mark and we are exerting ourselves in inviting the most topical orators who at all times consent with pleasure to share their points of view with the AmCham members. In autumn we have successfully carried our first Executive Table - Luncheon meant for maximally 30 participants out… Furthermore, the first Professional Update - professional advanced study and informing about the novelties in specific fields, has been held. I would like to invite all who wish to present their companies, activities or achievements to a smaller coterie, to contact me. Please, bear in mind, that the AmCham´s main task is to work for You, our Members.
I have to admit that writing this Editorial proved to be a very pleasant task as I have already at the beginning known what will follow in the end: the festive times are approaching and I wish You all to spend them as little as possible at work and to vigorously return in January. Our small collective will continue to strive for success so that You be will proud of Your Membership at AmCham Slovenia.
Don´t forget AmCham is here because and for You.
All the best in 2011.

Overview of the Work of the AmCham Committees
By making an overview of the work of four Committees and two Working Groups of AmCham Slovenia, we especially have to expose the achievements made by Tax, Public Procurement and Labour Committee.
These achievements will hopefully make a significant step forward in AmCham´s endeavours to make Slovenian business environment friendlier and more attractive to foreign direct investments and nevertheless to make the business environment in our beautiful country friendlier to all the companies already present in Slovenia. Special thanks go to all members and chairs of these Committees - (please accept our apologies for not enlisting them since we have a limited space in Brief), however all the members participating in the AmCham Committees may be seen in the Yearbook 2010/2011 – which will be on your tables next week.
CSR and Environment Working Group established one year ago are trying to drawl one´s, especially companies` attention to the concern for preserving a clean environment and to the significance of the social responsibility of the companies.
Membership Committee represents a great support for the AmCham Slovenia work guidelines.
In October this year we have organized a Business Luncheon with the topic denoting “the intellectual ownership” and it soon turned out that we need to establish a Committee which would cover this field.
We would like to encourage all Members to participate in the work of these Committees and Working Groups. If you need any additional information, please contact Vida Dolenc Pogačnik, Project Manager vida.dolenc@amcham.si
We wish you all the best in the coming year.
