Dearest Members!

I consider it as a great honor and pride to be appointed the President of the American Chamber of Commerce AmCham Slovenia at the regular General Assembly. I adopt the function as a big honor and a big responsibility at the same time. I have been in touch with the progress of the development of the American Chamber of Commerce as a Vice-President for four years and believe that we as a team and together with the exceptionally well-coordinated AmCham team along with the confidence of you, dear Members, have accomplished a lot.

Tomaž Lovše, who lead the Chamber from 2007 has by common consent of the Members of the Board of Governors received the title of Honorary AmCham Member. It is also his leadership and his support that led us to the foundations we have now and on the grounds of which we will be able to upgrade all our programs and activities even more. Everything begins and ends at members, therefore we have to strive for enlarging its circle, nevertheless shall not forget the fact that the Chamber` s reputation is reflected in the reputation of us, the members.

We will also in the future be active in four main spheres of activities: networking; advocacy; AmCham Young Professionals and international cooperation. I will gladly as well as the whole AmCham team be open to your proposals, needs and ideas. I am looking forward to spending time with you, perhaps the charity family sports picnic Slovenija: U.S. Sports Cup will be our first opportunity. Thank you once again for your confidence!

Regular Annual General Assembly of American Chamber of Commerce - AmCham Slovenia

The Members of the American Chamber of Commerce - AmCham Slovenia have on their Annual Regular Assembly on Tuesday, 7 June 2011, at the Town Hall Ljubljana elected the new President of the American Chamber of Commerce and four new members of the Board of Governors.

The newly-elected President of the American Chamber of Commerce, AmCham Slovenia with the mandate from June 2011 till June 2013, is Mr. Matej Potokar, the Director of the Group for Microsoft Business Solutions for the Middle and East Europe Regions. He was elected by the plurality of the Members votes.

For a mandate of two years there were also four members of the Board of Governors elected:

Mr. Sandi Češko, Studio Moderna, Mr. Matjaž Rakovec, M.Sc., Zavarovalnica Triglav, Triglav Insurance Company, Mr. Thierry Villard, Goodyear/Sava Tires, all for the first time, while the mandate of Mrs. Nataša Jenčič, Merck Sharp & Dohme has been prolonged for additional two years.

The newly-elected President of the American Chamber of Commerce, Matej Potokar in his introductory solemn speech presented his vision of the AmCham Slovenia development and his wish for creating a better business environment for Slovene and foreign companies in Slovenia also in the future.

Tomaž Lovše, who has presided over American Chamber of Commerce for two mandates since 2007- expressed his wishes to the new President for a successful work and also emphasized his intentions for actively cooperating at the realization of the mutually set aims also in the future.

The Board of Governors, by common consent, confirmed the proposition and granted to Mr. Tomaž Lovše the title of the AmCham Slovenia Honorary Member, given the statement of reasons, among plenty, that he as the president has contributed a lot to the development and recognition of the AmCham Slovenia.
